The Story Behind Isla

Isla is a short word with a lot of room inside it. For one person it may mean a neighborhood, a shoreline, or the view from a family home. For another it may mean a story handed down across distance. We wanted a piece that could hold either feeling without telling anyone which one was more real.

One word, a horizon, a point

The Isla Ivory hoodie places a warm tan island horizon above the script word Isla. Below it sits a small line of coordinates: 18.2208° N · 66.5901° W. The landscape is abstract artwork rather than a literal view. It gives the word a setting while leaving space for the wearer's own memory.

We kept returning to a question as we developed RicanPride: could a Puerto Rican piece feel personal and unmistakable without asking to be the loudest thing in the room? Isla is our answer for the quiet days.

Color that feels lived in

Ivory and tan keep the contrast soft. The pairing feels easy with denim, a coat, or whatever else someone actually wears on an ordinary day. The relaxed, garment-dyed hoodie is meant to become a piece you reach for often.

Minimal. Rooted. Worn everywhere.

The story belongs to the wearer

We did not make Isla to define what being Puerto Rican should look like. Some people are on the island now. Some have moved away. Some were born elsewhere and know the island through family. The piece leaves room for all of those lives.

Isla sits beside the Pepper Coordinates hoodie and the Ivory Coordinates tee. One piece names the island; the others place a point on a map. None can tell the whole story. The people who wear them do that.
